In June 2007 PICES
together with ICES
- the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea co-sponsored
a First Conference for Early
Career Scientists in Baltimore, U.S.A.. The conference
provided an opportunity for scientists who were at the beginning
of their careers to meet colleagues from around the globe who share
similar interests in marine science. The goal of this conference
was to foster the development of contacts, collaborations, and associations
among early career scientists that would persist for decades, and
to establish personal and institutional networks that would help
to advance our understanding of the marine environment. The report
on the Early Career Scientists Conference is published
in PICES
2007 Annual Report. The conference summary
is published in PICES
Press (No. 15., Vol. 2)
PICES and ICES
(International Council for the Exploration of the Sea) are co-sponsoring
a Second Conference for Early
Career Scientists in La Palma, Majorca, Spain from
April 24-27, 2012. The conference provides an opportunity
for marine scientists who are just beginning their careers to present
and discuss new research results with peers who share similar interests
in marine science. A goal of this conference is to provide a venue
to foster the development of international contacts, collaborations,
and associations that may persist for decades, and to establish
personal and institutional networks that will advance understanding
of the marine environment. |
