To develop a draft Science Plan based on the current
outline of FUTURE, and a final Science Plan after receiving comments
from the PICES community at the 2007 Annual Meeting in Victoria,
Canada.

Tasks:

To prepare a 1-2 page outline of
their views on the basic structure and key elements (major themes,
key questions) of the Science Plan
Prior to a first WT meeting in February
2007

To hold a 2-day meeting to discuss the differences
& similarities among the outlines and to arrive at a final
detailed outline
February 16-17, 2007, in Seattle (U.S.A.), following
the International Symposium on "Future of Fishery Science
in North America"
-
To further develop the outline by expanding on
the major sections and writing short descriptions of the state
of the science for a theme area
Between the February WT meeting and a FISP workshop
in April
-
To convene the FISP Workshop to review the goals,
objectives, organization and key elements of the Science Plan,
define the key questions to be answered, and determine strategic
approaches to answering the questions
April 16-18, 2007, in Yokohama (Japan), immediately
prior to the 2007 inter-sessional SB/GC meeting; The FISP workshop
might be followed by a 1-day WT meeting to decide on assignments
to drafting sections of the Science Plan

To develop the draft Science Plan and submit
it to Science Board and Council for review
September 2007

To participate in the Open Forum and a 1-day
WT/SB/GC workshop at PICES XVI
Late October/early November 2007, in Victoria,
Canada

To revise the draft Science Plan following comments
from the PICES scientific community at these forums, and submit
it for peer-review

To finalize the Science Plan following comments
from reviewers and have it available for approval at the 2008
inter-sessional SB/GC meeting
