1. Review the status of present physical modeling efforts on the subartic North Pacific circulation and identify the gaps and problem areas;
2. Identify the kinds of observations and other information needed to improve circulation models;
3. Identify what kinds of knowledge of the related physical processes and of local ocean dynamics (such as in marginal seas) are needed to improve the circulation models;
4. Identify how the incompleteness of the present physical model of the subarctic North Pacific influences other modeling efforts such as the global climate, ecosystems, material transport, etc.;
