GENERAL INFORMATION

All foreign participants must have visas to travel to Russia.

Start your visa application process at your earliest convenience - get visa before making travel arrangements, unless you are going through a travel agency.

Get an invitation before you start your visa application process.

1. APPLY FOR AN INVITATION

Fill out the REQUEST FORM and e-mail it along with a copy of your PASSPORT photo page (the page containing your personal details and photo) in JPEG / GIF format, and all questions/concerns regarding your visa application to Ekaterina Kurilova and Tatiana Semenova.

The invitation will be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.  Duration of the invitation process is approximately 2-3 weeks.

Please note that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow can only issue invitations to participants of the workshop/meeting.  Spouses and family members travelling with the participants should go through travel agencies to obtain a “tourist confirmation” for their visas.  Please check your country’s Russian Embassy/Consulate’s website for specific guidelines and instructions. 

2. APPLY FOR VISA

Instead of an invitation letter, a reference file number will be sent to you, to be submitted with your visa application.  A telex of your invitation will be sent directly to the Embassy or Consulate where you specified you will be applying at. 

Duration of the VISA application process depends on the regulations and requirements of the Embassy or Consulate where the application is submitted.  Information on the location of Diplomatic and Consular Missions of Russia can be found at  http://www.mid.ru/zu_r.nsf/strawebeng.
