| The city of Gijón (population about 300,000) is located
in the middle of the North coast of Spain. It is surrounded by mountains
and beaches of white and fine sand. One can enjoy walking around,
a safe environment with no problems of traffic, and air or water
pollution. Its economy is based on steel industry, naval engineering,
commercial port, financial banks and, of course, tourism.
There are several daily domestic flights between the Asturias
Airport and Madrid and Barcelona, and 3 weekly non-stop flights
to and from London and Paris. The Asturias Airport is 40 km from
Gijón. Buses (about 8 €) and taxis (about 40 €)
conveniently connect the airport with the city. If you wish to
rent a car, you will find Avis, Europcar and Hertz etc., at the
airport.
